Who May Be Eligible

Program eligibility and availability

The supervised intern therapy program is designed for people who may experience financial barriers, gaps in insurance coverage, provider shortages, or limited access to culturally responsive care.

Eligibility may consider:

Current residence in Texas or Ohio
Financial need and ability to pay the $35 session fee
Clinical appropriateness for intern-provided therapy
Current intern and supervisor availability
Whether virtual outpatient therapy is an appropriate level of care

Participation is not guaranteed. Placement depends on program capacity, applicable state requirements, clinical fit, and the availability of an appropriately supervised intern.

About Intern Therapy

What supervised care means

MSW interns are graduate students completing supervised clinical education. They are not independently licensed therapists.

Interns provide services under the guidance and oversight of qualified licensed clinical professionals. Clients are informed about the intern’s role, training status, and supervision arrangement during intake and informed consent.

Clinical safeguards include:

Licensed clinical supervision and case consultation
Informed consent explaining the intern’s role
Secure systems for sessions and clinical documentation
Clinical review and referral when a different level of care is needed
Emergency and crisis response instructions
